About the Event
The walls in the Florentin neighborhood are WOKE- Social graffiti expresses contemporary social issues in both loud and subtle ways. Walk through amazing pieces of art that reflect the issues our country is facing today. The tour will be the background for the rest of the day's tour focusing on social issues, innovation, and change makers while at the same time supporting small businesses and vulnerable communities. During the tour you will visit KitePride which creates functional bags from used high quality upcycled fabrics in order to provide jobs to women and men exiting human trafficking and prostitution. You will also visit Kuchinate (crochet in Tigrinya) a psychosocial project aimed at empowering the most vulnerable asylum-seeking women. The collective trains women to design and create crochet products for the home, such as baskets, poufs, and rugs. They also host crochet lessons, meals, and traditional Ethiopian and Eritrean coffee ceremonies.
You will have a break for lunch in Florentine and have an option to eat at Tenat Ethiopian Kosher restaurant with pre-payment on registration form.
